5 Times Pay Slots

As far as three-reel slots in Vegas go, this is one of the most well-know and most widely enjoyed. There are a number of different formats of Five Times Pay, mostly the differences are in the jackpots and the number of coins that need to be played in order to get a chance at hitting the jackpot

5 Times Pay Slot Machine in Vegas

Five Times Pay can be found in most casinos in Vegas, usually you can find them in areas specializing in classic three reel games

Having played this machine quite a bit on my last trip to Las Vegas, I found that one of the best places to play was The Rio All Suite Resort.

Towards the back of the Rio casino floor is a block of three reel machines where pay-back is guaranteed at 98% (very very good). You can find some slots within that block where a 1 or 2 coin play will give you the chance of hitting the jackpot, which is also pretty nice.

As all the machines on that 98% payout block in The Rio are 25c per spin versions, this gives a great opportunity at getting the most bang for your buck compared to most Vegas casinos, where you can find yourself needing to pay $3 a spin to have a chance of hitting the big one

Of course, a high payback rate does not mean you will win, it just gives you a better chance. Technically it means you should lose still, because the casino take 2% of all the slot money. But, over the long-term you will get a lot more play for your money and have a far better chance of winning than if you were playing on one of the many 90% vegas slot machines (or lower) you will find in Vegas

One thing to look out for when you play games like 5 Times Pay in Vegas is what you need to bet to have a chance of winning the jackpot.

Looking at some of the machines, you will see a huge jackpot win prize. In order for them to offer this big jackpot, basically it means the regular wins are few and far between as the machines accumulate money to pay out a big jackpot. So, you could go for long periods without winning anything. But if you do win, it could be BIG - the technical term for this type of slot is 'high variance'

Other machines have much lower jackpots (Double Diamond is often one of these) and with those type of machines you get more wins, but they tend to be of lower value.

The term for these machines is 'low variance' slots and in general you get more play (in terms of spins) for your money, but they don't have the really big jackpot that could make a big difference to your life

So, when playing three reel slots, like 5 Times Pay, Double Diamond or 12x Pay, be sure to look at the jackpot and think about what sort of playing experience you are looking for - lots of small wins that occur regularly or big wins that occur very rarely. The same applies to 5 reel slots where a typical high variance slot would be wolf run and low variance games include texas tea and lobstermania
